The Chair's Comments

This is the last time I will write to you as the chair of the 2011-2012 Intellectual Property Law Section. By the next time you receive an issue of IP Links, Eric Mills will be the section chair and a cadre of new and familiar faces will be heading up section committees and the council.
Before the clock strikes twelve on our time together, I wanted to share a few, brief thoughts with you.
It has been an honor to have been your section chair. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve.
Thank you to my fellow section officers, committee chairs, council members, and committee members. Their work has brought to you the terrific programming and activities which make section membership worthwhile.
You have seen the notices for the past year’s activities, and I hope you have taken the opportunity to participate. I saw many of you at CLEs about trademarks, sports and copyright law, and the annual meeting. You have heard about the work concerning the potential satellite patent office and reports from international patent liaisons. Maybe you even attended the tri-city networking event. More recently, you had a chance to attend the Laws of Science or the program in Charlotte about the America Invents Act.
Thanks also are due – and given - to Lynda Imhoff and the other good folks at the Bar Association. Without their guidance and work, wheels would be reinvented and the section would not have so much going on.
My friends, we have had a very full year with terrific events and opportunities to make our bar a better bar. To quote a former President’s farewell address, “All in all, not bad, not bad at all.” •
